Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D Karad is a name which is synonymous with not just holistic education but also as a propagator of world peace. With the sole objective of meeting the long felt need of a center of scientific and educational research, which would meet the challenges of the present and the future technical advancements of the fast changing world, in 1983 Karad started MIT Group of Institutions as a society and charitable trust.

MAEER’s MIT was the first step of the revolution in the education scenario of Maharashtra. Maharashtra, the third largest state in the country, with a rich heritage, known as the land of saints. and also, the one which gave great leaders to the world had yet to get progressed in the field of education.

The youth of today believes in revolt and action rather than patience and tolerance. In midst of this challenging environment, in order to promote good character building among the young generation, Karad, in his Group of institutions, strictly follows the ethos of value-based education.

The foundation of MIT Group of Institutions rests firmly on the philosophy espoused by the great noble son of India, Swami Vivekananda who said: "The union of Science and Religion / Spirituality alone will bring peace to the mankind"…and this is diligently followed by Karad.

He strongly feels that in today’s world terrorism is nothing but an absence of Peace and sustained education. Even the best education without values and ethics is not just meaningless but is in fact dangerous.

Dr. Vishwanath Karad has that creative streak in him which keeps him incessantly looking for something new with respect to the development of youth. No wonder that when his son Rahul V Karad came up with the idea of starting a school to train youth in government practices so that they can make politics as their careers. This idea, which aimed at creating a lineage of educated youth to enter mainstream politics, was an instant hit with Karad who extended his whole-hearted support to Rahul.

Rahul’s initiatives have always had the blessings of Prof. Dr. Karad and thus we see a host of initiatives like the Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad, National Teacher’s Congress and National Women’s Parliament. While all these have gathered immense success and popularity among the youth and women, they have also set benchmarks in holistic youth outreach for the betterment of the society and thus the country at large
